Ingredients
- Unsalted Butter: 1/2 cup (1 stick), melted
- Granulated Sugar: 1 cup
- Large Eggs: 2
- Vanilla Extract: 1 teaspoon
- All-Purpose Flour: 1/2 cup
- Unsweetened Cocoa Powder: 1/2 cup
- Cream Cheese: 4 ounces, softened
- Fresh Blackberries: 1 cup
Instructions
- Step 1: Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour an 8×8 inch baking pan.
- Step 2: In a large bowl, combine the melted butter and sugar. Beat until well combined. Add the eggs one at a time, then stir in the vanilla extract.
- Step 3: In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour and cocoa powder. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, mixing until just combined. Do not overmix.
- Step 4: In a separate small bowl, beat the softened cream cheese until smooth. Gently fold in half of the blackberries.
- Step 5: Pour half of the brownie batter into the prepared pan. Dollop the cream cheese mixture over the brownie batter. Pour the remaining brownie batter over the cream cheese mixture. Sprinkle remaining blackberries over the top.
- Step 6: Bake for 30-35 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out with moist crumbs. Let cool completely before cutting into squares.
Notes
- Store leftover brownies in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 3 days, or in the refrigerator for up to a week.
- For a warm, gooey treat, microwave a brownie square for 10-15 seconds before serving.
- Serve these rich brownies with a scoop of vanilla ice cream or a dollop of whipped cream for extra indulgence.
- To prevent the blackberries from sinking, gently toss them in a tablespoon of flour before sprinkling them on top of the brownie batter.
