Ingredients
Scale
- 1 box (15.25 oz) cake mix (any flavor)
- 1/2 cup vegetable oil
- 2 large eggs
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1/2 cup powdered sugar
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- Optional: food coloring (if desired)
Instructions
- Step 1: Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- Step 2: In a large bowl, combine the cake mix, vegetable oil, eggs, vanilla extract, and salt. Mix until well combined. If using food coloring, add it now and mix until evenly distributed.
- Step 3: Place the powdered sugar in a small bowl.
- Step 4: Roll the dough into 1-inch balls. Then, roll each ball in the powdered sugar, making sure it is fully coated.
- Step 5: Place the sugar-coated dough balls onto the prepared baking sheet, leaving some space between each cookie.
- Step 6: Bake for 8-10 minutes, or until the edges are set and the tops are slightly cracked. Let cool on the baking sheet for a few minutes before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely.
Notes
- Store cooled cookies in an airtight container at room temperature to keep them soft.
- For a warm, gooey treat, microwave a cookie for about 5-10 seconds.
- Serve these colorful cookies with a tall glass of cold milk for a simple yet satisfying dessert.
- For a richer flavor, try using melted butter instead of vegetable oil, but be sure to chill the dough for 30 minutes before rolling to prevent spreading.
