Ingredients
Scale
- 1 lb chicken sausage, sliced
- 1 tbsp olive oil
- 1 large head broccoli, cut into florets
- 1 cup orzo pasta
- 2 cups chicken broth
- 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
- 1/4 cup chopped fresh parsley
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
Instructions
- Step 1: Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add chicken sausage and cook, stirring occasionally, until browned and cooked through (about 5-7 minutes). Remove sausage from skillet and set aside.
- Step 2: Add broccoli florets and minced garlic to the skillet and cook for 3-5 minutes, until broccoli is slightly tender-crisp.
- Step 3: Stir in orzo pasta and chicken broth. Bring to a boil, then reduce heat to low, cover, and simmer for 10-12 minutes, or until orzo is cooked through and liquid is absorbed.
- Step 4: Stir in cooked chicken sausage, Parmesan cheese, and parsley. Cook for another minute, allowing the cheese to melt and the flavors to combine.
- Step 5: Serve immediately.
Notes
- Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
- For reheating, add a splash of chicken broth to prevent dryness and microwave until heated through.
- Serve this hearty skillet dish with a side of crusty bread to soak up the delicious sauce.
- To enhance the garlicky flavor, lightly toast the minced garlic in the oil before adding the broccoli.
