Ingredients

  • Boneless, skinless chicken breasts: 4, 6-ounce pieces
  • Cooked ham slices: 4 slices
  • Swiss cheese slices: 4 slices

  • Breadcrumbs: 1 cup, seasoned with salt, pepper, and garlic powder
  • Eggs: 2, beaten
  • Butter: 4 tablespoons
  • Milk: 1/2 cup
  • Swiss cheese, shredded: 1/2 cup

Instructions

  1. Step 1: Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). Flatten each chicken breast to about 1/4 inch thickness using a meat mallet.
  2. Step 2: Layer one slice of ham and one slice of Swiss cheese on top of each chicken breast. Fold the chicken over the ham and cheese, securing with toothpicks if necessary.
  3. Step 3: Prepare three shallow dishes: one with flour, one with beaten eggs, and one with seasoned breadcrumbs. Dredge each chicken breast in flour, then dip in egg, and finally coat thoroughly with breadcrumbs.
  4. Step 4: Melt butter in a large skillet over medium heat. Sear the breaded chicken breasts for 2-3 minutes per side, until golden brown.
  5. Step 5: Transfer the seared chicken breasts to a baking dish and bake in the preheated oven for 20-25 minutes, or until the chicken is cooked through and the cheese is melted.
