Ingredients
- Chow Mein Noodles: 1 pound
- Chicken Breast: 1 pound, cut into bite-sized pieces
- Soy Sauce: 1/4 cup
- Oyster Sauce: 2 tablespoons
- Sesame Oil: 1 tablespoon
- Brown Sugar: 1 tablespoon
- Cornstarch: 1 tablespoon
- Mixed Vegetables (broccoli, carrots, snap peas): 2 cups
Instructions
- Step 1: Cook the chow mein noodles according to package directions. Drain and set aside.
- Step 2: In a bowl, whisk together soy sauce, oyster sauce, sesame oil, brown sugar, and cornstarch to create the chow mein sauce. Set aside.
- Step 3: Heat a wok or large skillet over high heat. Add the chicken and stir-fry until cooked through and lightly browned.
- Step 4: Add the mixed vegetables to the wok with the chicken and stir-fry for 3-5 minutes, until tender-crisp.
- Step 5: Pour the chow mein sauce over the chicken and vegetables. Stir-fry until the sauce thickens and coats the ingredients. Add the cooked noodles and toss everything together until well combined. Serve immediately.
Notes
- Store leftover chow mein in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
- For best results, reheat individual portions in a skillet with a splash of water to prevent the noodles from drying out.
- Garnish your chow mein with sesame seeds and chopped green onions for added flavor and visual appeal.
- Don't overcrowd the wok – stir-fry the chicken and vegetables in batches if needed to ensure even cooking and avoid steaming.
