  • Total Time: 35 minutes
  • Yield: 4 servings

Ingredients

  • Ground beef: 2 pounds
  • Yellow onion, chopped: 1 medium
  • Green bell pepper, chopped: 1 medium
  • Provolone cheese slices: 8 slices
  • Hoagie rolls: 4
  • Worcestershire sauce: 2 tablespoons
  • Bread crumbs: 1 cup
  • Egg: 1 large

Instructions

  1. Step 1: Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). In a large bowl, combine the ground beef, chopped onion, chopped green bell pepper, Worcestershire sauce, bread crumbs, and egg. Mix thoroughly with your hands until all ingredients are well incorporated.
  2. Step 2: Shape the mixture into a loaf and place it in a greased loaf pan.
  3. Step 3: Bake for 50-60 minutes, or until the internal temperature reaches 160°F (71°C).
  4. Step 4: Remove the meatloaf from the oven and top with provolone cheese slices. Return to the oven for 5 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and bubbly.
  5. Step 5: Let the meatloaf rest for 10 minutes before slicing. Serve on toasted hoagie rolls for a classic Philly Cheesesteak Meatloaf experience.

Notes

  • Store leftover meatloaf tightly wrapped in the refrigerator for up to 3 days to maintain its moisture.
  • For best flavor, reheat slices in a skillet with a little butter or oil to crisp the edges.
  • Serve the meatloaf on toasted hoagie rolls with a drizzle of cheese sauce or a sprinkle of caramelized onions for extra Philly flavor.
  • Don't overmix the meatloaf mixture; gently combine the ingredients to avoid a tough final texture.
