Ingredients
- Ground beef: 2 pounds
- Yellow onion, chopped: 1 medium
- Green bell pepper, chopped: 1 medium
- Provolone cheese slices: 8 slices
- Hoagie rolls: 4
- Worcestershire sauce: 2 tablespoons
- Bread crumbs: 1 cup
- Egg: 1 large
Instructions
- Step 1: Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). In a large bowl, combine the ground beef, chopped onion, chopped green bell pepper, Worcestershire sauce, bread crumbs, and egg. Mix thoroughly with your hands until all ingredients are well incorporated.
- Step 2: Shape the mixture into a loaf and place it in a greased loaf pan.
- Step 3: Bake for 50-60 minutes, or until the internal temperature reaches 160°F (71°C).
- Step 4: Remove the meatloaf from the oven and top with provolone cheese slices. Return to the oven for 5 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and bubbly.
- Step 5: Let the meatloaf rest for 10 minutes before slicing. Serve on toasted hoagie rolls for a classic Philly Cheesesteak Meatloaf experience.
Notes
- Store leftover meatloaf tightly wrapped in the refrigerator for up to 3 days to maintain its moisture.
- For best flavor, reheat slices in a skillet with a little butter or oil to crisp the edges.
- Serve the meatloaf on toasted hoagie rolls with a drizzle of cheese sauce or a sprinkle of caramelized onions for extra Philly flavor.
- Don't overmix the meatloaf mixture; gently combine the ingredients to avoid a tough final texture.
