Ingredients
Scale
- 1 pound ground chicken
- 1 packet (about 3 Tbsp) dry Ranch seasoning mix
- 1/2 cup shredded Monterey Jack or cheddar cheese
- 1 large egg
- 1/4 cup all-purpose flour
- 1 cup Panko breadcrumbs
- 1/4 cup vegetable oil (or canola oil)
- Salt and black pepper, to taste
Instructions
- Step 1: In a large mixing bowl, combine the ground chicken, Ranch seasoning mix, shredded cheese, and a dash of salt and pepper. Use your hands to thoroughly mix the ingredients until just combined (do not overmix).
- Step 2: Set up a dredging station: Place the flour in one shallow dish, lightly whisk the large egg in a second dish, and place the Panko breadcrumbs in a third dish.
- Step 3: Form the chicken mixture into 6-8 uniform patties (about 1/2 inch thick). Dredge each patty first in the flour, then dip it into the egg, and finally press it firmly into the Panko breadcrumbs to ensure a thick, crispy coating.
- Step 4: Heat the vegetable oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Once the oil is shimmering, carefully place the patties in the hot skillet, ensuring not to overcrowd the pan.
- Step 5: Cook the patties for 4-6 minutes per side, until they are golden brown, crispy, and the internal temperature reaches 165°F (74°C).
- Step 6: Transfer the finished patties to a plate lined with paper towels to drain excess oil before serving.
Notes
- Use slightly damp hands when forming the patties; this prevents the sticky chicken mixture from adhering to your palms and helps you achieve a smoother, more uniform shape before dredging.
- For a fun dinner, serve these patties on toasted brioche buns with sliced tomato and extra Ranch dressing, or enjoy them sliced over a simple bed of mixed greens.
- To restore the beautiful crispness of leftovers, reheat cooked patties in a 350°F (175°C) oven or air fryer for about 8-10 minutes until piping hot and the crust is revitalized.
- Uncooked, breaded patties can be frozen on a parchment-lined sheet; once solid, transfer them to a freezer bag and cook directly from frozen, adding an extra 3-4 minutes per side.
