Ingredients
- Beef sirloin, thinly sliced: 1 pound
- Soy sauce: 1/4 cup
- Cornstarch: 1 tablespoon
- Brown sugar: 1 tablespoon
- Sesame oil: 1 tablespoon
- Broccoli florets: 2 cups
- Red bell pepper, sliced: 1
- Garlic, minced: 2 cloves
Instructions
- Step 1: In a bowl, whisk together soy sauce, cornstarch, brown sugar, and sesame oil. Set aside.
- Step 2: Heat a wok or large skillet over high heat. Add the beef and stir-fry until browned, about 2-3 minutes. Remove beef from the skillet and set aside.
- Step 3: Add broccoli florets and sliced red bell pepper to the skillet. Stir-fry for 3-4 minutes, until slightly tender.
- Step 4: Add the minced garlic and stir-fry for 30 seconds until fragrant.
- Step 5: Return the beef to the skillet. Pour the sauce mixture over the beef and vegetables. Stir-fry until the sauce has thickened and coats the beef and vegetables, about 1-2 minutes.
- Step 6: Serve immediately over rice or noodles.
Notes
- Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
- For best results, reheat the stir-fry in a skillet over medium heat, adding a splash of water or broth if needed to prevent sticking.
- This stir-fry is delicious served over fluffy white rice or a bed of crispy chow mein noodles.
- To ensure tender beef, slice it thinly against the grain and don't overcrowd the pan while browning.
