Ingredients
Scale
- 1 cup peanut butter
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 1 cup packed brown sugar
- 2 large eggs
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 teaspoon baking soda
- 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
Instructions
- Step 1: Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). Line baking sheets with parchment paper.
- Step 2: In a large bowl, cream together the peanut butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar until smooth.
- Step 3: Beat in the eggs one at a time, then stir in the vanilla extract.
- Step 4: In a separate bowl, whisk together the baking soda, baking powder, and salt. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, mixing until just combined.
- Step 5: Roll the dough into 1-inch balls. Place on the prepared baking sheets, leaving about 2 inches between each cookie.
- Step 6: Flatten each cookie with a fork, making a crisscross pattern. Bake for 8-10 minutes, or until the edges are lightly golden brown. Let cool on the baking sheets for a few minutes before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely.
Notes
- Store cooled cookies in an airtight container at room temperature to keep them soft and chewy for up to a week.
- For a warm, gooey treat, microwave a cookie for 5-10 seconds; watch carefully to avoid burning!
- Serve these classic cookies with a tall glass of cold milk for the ultimate comfort food experience.
- Chef's Tip: Don't overmix the dough once you add the dry ingredients – this keeps the cookies tender and prevents them from becoming tough.
