- 1 jalapeño pepper, seeded and minced
- 1/4 cup fresh cilantro, chopped
- 2 tablespoons lime juice

- 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
Instructions
- Step 1: Dice the tomatoes and finely chop the onion.
- Step 2: Seed and mince the jalapeño pepper. Be careful not to touch your eyes after handling jalapeños.
- Step 3: Combine the diced tomatoes, chopped onion, minced jalapeño, and chopped cilantro in a medium-sized bowl.
- Step 4: Add the minced garlic, lime juice, salt, and pepper to the bowl.
- Step 5: Stir all ingredients together thoroughly until well combined.
- Step 6: Taste and adjust seasonings as needed, adding more salt, pepper, or lime juice to your preference. Let sit for 5 minutes to allow flavors to meld before serving.
Notes
- Store leftover salsa in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days; the flavors will deepen overnight!
- This salsa is best served fresh and doesn't require reheating, but you can bring it to room temperature for optimal flavor if it's been chilled.
- Spoon your fresh salsa over grilled fish, tacos, or even scrambled eggs for a zesty kick.
- For a sweeter salsa, try using Roma tomatoes which have a naturally less acidic flavor and meatier texture.
