Ingredients
- Cremini mushrooms, sliced: 1 pound
- All-purpose flour: 1 cup
- Cornstarch: 1/2 cup
- Paprika: 1 teaspoon
- Garlic powder: 1/2 teaspoon
- Salt: 1/2 teaspoon
- Black pepper: 1/4 teaspoon
- Vegetable oil: 2 cups (for frying)
- Ranch dressing: 1 cup (for dipping)
Instructions
- Step 1: In a bowl, whisk together flour, cornstarch, paprika, garlic powder, salt, and pepper. This is your dry coating.
- Step 2: Heat vegetable oil in a large skillet or deep fryer to 350°F (175°C). Make sure you have enough oil to fully submerge the mushrooms.
- Step 3: Working in batches, dredge the sliced mushrooms in the flour mixture, ensuring they are fully coated. Shake off any excess flour.
- Step 4: Carefully place the coated mushrooms into the hot oil and fry for 2-3 minutes, or until golden brown and crispy.
- Step 5: Remove the fried mushrooms with a slotted spoon and place them on a paper towel-lined plate to drain excess oil.
- Step 6: Serve the fried mushrooms immediately with ranch dressing for dipping.
Notes
- Store leftover fried mushrooms in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 2 days.
- Reheat fried mushrooms in a preheated 350°F (175°C) oven or air fryer for 5-7 minutes to restore crispiness.
- Elevate your snack board by serving these mushrooms with other dippers like sriracha mayo or honey mustard.
- For extra crispy mushrooms, double dredge them in the flour mixture before frying.
