Delicious homemade apple cobbler with pie crust – alrightwithme recipe with detailed instructions and nutritional information.

  • Total Time: 35 minutes
  • Yield: 4 servings 1x

Ingredients

Scale
  • 68 medium apples, peeled and sliced
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg
  • 1 box (14.1 oz) refrigerated pie crusts
  • 4 tablespoons butter, cut into small pieces
  • 1/4 cup milk or cream, for brushing

Instructions

  1. Step 1: Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). In a large bowl, combine the sliced apples, sugar, flour, cinnamon, and nutmeg. Toss gently to coat the apples evenly.
  2. Step 2: Pour the apple mixture into a 9×13 inch baking dish. Dot the top of the apples with the butter pieces.
  3. Step 3: Unroll one pie crust and cut it into strips (about 1 inch wide). Arrange the strips over the apple mixture in a lattice pattern. You can also use cookie cutters for decorative shapes if preferred.
  4. Step 4: Unroll the second pie crust and cut out shapes to fill in any gaps between the lattice, or cut more strips.
  5. Step 5: Brush the pie crust with milk or cream. This will help it brown nicely in the oven.
  6. Step 6: Bake for 35-45 minutes, or until the crust is golden brown and the apple filling is bubbly. Let cool slightly before serving.

Notes

  • Store leftover apple cobbler in the refrigerator for up to 3 days, covered tightly.
  • To reheat, warm individual servings in the microwave or bake in a preheated oven until heated through.
  • A scoop of vanilla ice cream or a dollop of whipped cream complements the warm apple cobbler perfectly.
  • For extra flavor, try using a mix of apple varieties like Granny Smith and Honeycrisp to create a more complex flavor profile.
