Delicious homemade cheesy breadsticks recipe with detailed instructions and nutritional information.

  • Total Time: 35 minutes
  • Yield: 4 servings 1x

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup warm water (105-115°F)
  • 2 1/4 teaspoons active dry yeast
  • 1 teaspoon sugar
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 3 cups all-purpose flour, plus more for dusting
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1/4 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1/4 cup butter, melted

Instructions

  1. Step 1: In a large bowl, combine warm water, yeast, and sugar. Let stand for 5-10 minutes until foamy. Stir in olive oil.
  2. Step 2: Gradually add flour and salt to the yeast mixture, mixing until a soft dough forms. Turn the dough out onto a lightly floured surface and knead for 5-7 minutes, until smooth and elastic.
  3. Step 3: In a separate bowl, combine Parmesan and mozzarella cheese.
  4. Step 4: Roll the dough out into a 12×18 inch rectangle. Sprinkle the cheese mixture evenly over the dough. Tightly roll the dough into a log, starting from the long side. Cut the log into 1-inch thick slices.
  5. Step 5: Place the breadsticks onto a baking sheet lined with parchment paper. Brush with melted butter.
  6. Step 6: Bake in a preheated oven at 400°F (200°C) for 15-20 minutes, or until golden brown. Serve warm.

Notes

  • Store leftover breadsticks in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 2 days, or freeze them for longer storage.
  • For perfectly crisp breadsticks, reheat them in a 350°F oven for 5-7 minutes or until warmed through.
  • Serve these cheesy breadsticks alongside your favorite pasta dishes or use them as delightful appetizers for a crowd.
  • To prevent sticking, lightly flour your work surface and rolling pin throughout the dough-making process.
