Ingredients
- Fresh Green Beans: 1 pound, trimmed
- Garlic: 4 cloves, minced
- Honey: 2 tablespoons
- Soy Sauce: 2 tablespoons
- Olive Oil: 2 tablespoons
- Sesame Oil: 1 teaspoon
- Red Pepper Flakes: 1/4 teaspoon (optional)
- Sesame Seeds: 1 tablespoon (for garnish)
Instructions
- Step 1: Heat olive oil in a large skillet or wok over medium-high heat.
- Step 2: Add the green beans to the skillet and cook, stirring occasionally, for 5-7 minutes, or until they are tender-crisp and slightly blistered.
- Step 3: Add the minced garlic to the skillet and cook for about 30 seconds, until fragrant, being careful not to burn it.
- Step 4: In a small bowl, whisk together the honey, soy sauce, and sesame oil. Pour the sauce over the green beans and garlic. Add red pepper flakes if desired.
- Step 5: Cook for another 1-2 minutes, stirring constantly, until the sauce has thickened slightly and evenly coats the green beans.
- Step 6: Remove from heat and garnish with sesame seeds before serving.
Notes
- Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days, but the green beans will lose some of their crispness.
- For best results, reheat gently in a skillet over medium-low heat to avoid overcooking the green beans.
- These green beans make a delicious side dish with grilled chicken, salmon, or tofu for a balanced and flavorful meal.
- To enhance the garlic flavor without burning it, try briefly sautéing it in the olive oil *before* adding the green beans.
