Ingredients
- Ground beef: 1 pound
- Soy sauce: 1/4 cup
- Brown sugar: 2 tablespoons
- Sesame oil: 1 tablespoon
- Garlic, minced: 2 cloves
- Ginger, minced: 1 teaspoon
- Green onions, sliced: 2
- Cooked rice: 4 cups
Instructions
- Step 1: In a large skillet, brown the ground beef over medium-high heat. Drain off any excess grease.
- Step 2: In a small bowl, whisk together soy sauce, brown sugar, sesame oil, minced garlic, and minced ginger.
- Step 3: Pour the sauce over the browned ground beef and stir well to combine.
- Step 4: Reduce the heat to medium and simmer for 5-7 minutes, or until the sauce has thickened slightly.
- Step 5: Serve the Korean ground beef over cooked rice. Garnish with sliced green onions.
Notes
- Store leftover Korean beef and rice separately in airtight containers in the refrigerator for up to 3 days to prevent the rice from becoming soggy.
- For best reheating, microwave the beef separately and then spoon over freshly fluffed rice.
- Garnish your bowl with a sprinkle of sesame seeds or a drizzle of sriracha for an extra layer of flavor and visual appeal.
- Don't overcrowd the pan while browning the beef; work in batches if needed for optimal browning and flavor development.
