Ingredients
Scale
- 1 lb lasagna noodles (oven-ready preferred)
- 1 lb ricotta cheese
- 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
- 2 large eggs
- 1 tsp dried oregano
- 1/2 tsp garlic powder
- 1 (28 ounce) can crushed tomatoes
- 1 (15 ounce) can tomato sauce
- 1/2 cup chopped onion
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 tbsp olive oil
- 1 lb ground beef
- 15 oz shredded mozzarella cheese
- 1/2 cup heavy cream
Instructions
- Step 1: Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). In a large skillet, heat olive oil over medium heat. Add onion and garlic; cook until softened, about 5 minutes. Add ground beef and cook, breaking it up with a spoon, until browned. Drain off any excess grease. Stir in crushed tomatoes and tomato sauce; season with salt and pepper to taste. Simmer for 15 minutes.
- Step 2: In a medium bowl, combine ricotta cheese, Parmesan cheese, eggs, oregano, and garlic powder. Mix well.
- Step 3: Spread a thin layer of meat sauce in the bottom of a 9×13 inch baking dish. Layer 3-4 lasagna noodles over the sauce. Spread half of the ricotta mixture over the noodles, followed by a third of the mozzarella cheese. Repeat layers: meat sauce, noodles, ricotta mixture, mozzarella cheese. Top with remaining meat sauce and the remaining noodles.
- Step 4: Pour heavy cream evenly over the top layer of noodles. Sprinkle with the remaining mozzarella cheese.
- Step 5: Cover the baking dish with aluminum foil and bake for 30 minutes. Remove the foil and bake for an additional 15-20 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and bubbly and the lasagna is heated through.
- Step 6: Let stand for 10-15 minutes before slicing and serving.
