Delicious million dollar lasagna: an incredible ultimate recipe recipe with detailed instructions and nutritional information.

  • Total Time: 35 minutes
  • Yield: 4 servings

Ingredients

  • Ground beef: 1.5 pounds
  • Italian sausage: 1 pound
  • Lasagna noodles: 1 box (oven-ready)
  • Ricotta cheese: 15 ounces
  • Mozzarella cheese: 3 cups, shredded
  • Parmesan cheese: 1 cup, grated
  • Marinara sauce: 48 ounces
  • Egg: 1 large

Instructions

  1. Step 1: Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). Brown the ground beef and Italian sausage in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Drain off any excess grease.
  2. Step 2: Stir in the marinara sauce to the meat mixture and simmer for 15 minutes.
  3. Step 3: In a separate bowl, combine the ricotta cheese, egg, and 1/2 cup of Parmesan cheese. Mix well.
  4. Step 4: Spread a thin layer of meat sauce in the bottom of a 9×13 inch baking dish. Layer noodles (overlapping if necessary), ricotta mixture, and mozzarella cheese. Repeat layers until all ingredients are used, ending with a layer of meat sauce and mozzarella cheese on top.
  5. Step 5: Sprinkle the remaining Parmesan cheese over the top. Cover the baking dish with foil and bake for 30 minutes.
  6. Step 6: Remove the foil and bake for an additional 15-20 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and bubbly and the lasagna is heated through. Let stand for 10 minutes before serving.

Notes

  • For easier slicing, let the lasagna cool completely before refrigerating leftovers in an airtight container for up to 3 days.
  • Reheat individual slices in the microwave with a splash of water to prevent drying, or bake covered in a low oven (325°F) until warmed through.
  • Serve with a simple green salad and crusty bread to soak up all that delicious sauce; a sprinkle of fresh basil elevates the presentation.
  • Chef's secret: Don't skip the simmering step; it allows the marinara to meld with the meat, creating a deeper, richer flavor!
