Delicious one-pan tangy honey bbq chicken penne recipe with detailed instructions and nutritional information.

  • Total Time: 35 minutes
  • Yield: 4 servings 1x

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 lb boneless, skinless chicken breasts, cut into 1-inch pieces
  • 1 lb penne pasta
  • 1 red bell pepper, chopped
  • 1/2 cup red onion, chopped
  • 1 1/2 cups chicken broth
  • 1 cup tangy BBQ sauce (store-bought or homemade)
  • 1/4 cup honey
  • 1 tbsp olive oil

Instructions

  1. Step 1: Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C). In a large bowl, toss the chicken pieces with olive oil, salt, and pepper.
  2. Step 2: In a large oven-safe skillet or baking dish, combine the penne pasta, chopped bell pepper, and chopped red onion.
  3. Step 3: Spread the chicken evenly over the pasta and vegetables. Pour in the chicken broth, BBQ sauce, and honey. Stir well to ensure the pasta is submerged in the liquid.
  4. Step 4: Cover the skillet tightly with aluminum foil and bake for 30 minutes.
  5. Step 5: Remove the foil and bake for another 10-15 minutes, or until the pasta is cooked through and the chicken is cooked to an internal temperature of 165°F (74°C).
  6. Step 6: Let the dish rest for a few minutes before serving. Stir well before serving to distribute the sauce evenly.

Notes

  • Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
  • For best results, reheat individual portions in the microwave with a splash of water or broth to prevent drying.
  • Garnish with fresh cilantro or parsley and a dollop of sour cream or Greek yogurt for extra flavor and creaminess.
  • To ensure the chicken cooks evenly, cut the pieces into uniform sizes before tossing with olive oil and seasoning.
