Ingredients
- Mushrooms (cremini or white), 1 pound, sliced
- Garlic, 4 cloves, minced
- Olive oil, 2 tablespoons
- Butter, 2 tablespoons
- Parmesan cheese, 1/4 cup, grated
- Fresh parsley, 2 tablespoons, chopped
- Salt, 1/2 teaspoon
- Black pepper, 1/4 teaspoon
Instructions
- Step 1: Heat olive oil and butter in a large skillet over medium-high heat.
- Step 2: Add the sliced mushrooms to the skillet and cook, stirring occasionally, until they release their moisture and begin to brown, about 5-7 minutes.
- Step 3: Add the minced garlic to the skillet and cook for another minute, until fragrant, being careful not to burn it.
- Step 4: Stir in the grated Parmesan cheese, salt, and pepper. Cook for 1 minute more, stirring constantly, until the cheese is melted and evenly distributed.
- Step 5: Remove the skillet from the heat and stir in the chopped fresh parsley.
- Step 6: Serve immediately as a side dish or appetizer.
Notes
- Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
- To reheat, gently sauté the mushrooms in a pan with a little extra butter over medium heat until warmed through.
- Serve these savory mushrooms atop grilled steak or chicken for an extra layer of flavor.
- Don't overcrowd the pan when cooking the mushrooms; cook in batches if necessary to ensure they brown properly instead of steaming.
