Ingredients
- All-purpose flour: 1/2 cup
- Large eggs: 3
- Milk: 1/2 cup
- Turkey bacon: 4 slices, cooked and crumbled
- Cheddar cheese: 1/2 cup, shredded
- Butter: 2 tablespoons
- Salt: 1/4 teaspoon
- Black pepper: Pinch
Instructions
- Step 1: Preheat oven to 425°F (220°C). Place a 10-inch cast iron skillet (or oven-safe skillet) in the oven while it preheats.
- Step 2: While the oven heats, whisk together the flour, eggs, milk, salt, and pepper in a blender or bowl until smooth.
- Step 3: Carefully remove the hot skillet from the oven. Add the butter to the skillet and swirl to coat the bottom and sides of the pan. The butter should melt quickly.
- Step 4: Pour the batter into the hot skillet. Sprinkle the crumbled turkey bacon and shredded cheddar cheese evenly over the batter.
- Step 5: Bake for 20-25 minutes, or until the Dutch Baby is puffed up and golden brown.
- Step 6: Let cool slightly before slicing and serving. Serve immediately for best texture.
Notes
- Refrigerate any leftover Dutch Baby promptly and tightly wrapped, but be aware it will lose some of its initial puff.
- To revive a cooled Dutch Baby, gently reheat individual slices in a toaster oven or skillet until warmed through.
- A dollop of sour cream or a sprinkle of fresh chives elevates the savory flavors beautifully.
- For extra crispy edges and a guaranteed puff, ensure your skillet is screaming hot before adding the butter and batter.
