Ingredients
Scale
- 1 cup whole wheat flour
- 1/2 cup pumpkin puree (plain, unsweetened)
- 1 large egg
- 1/2 cup milk (or water)
- 1 tablespoon honey
- 1 teaspoon baking powder
- 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
- 1 tablespoon coconut oil, for cooking
Instructions
- Step 1: In a large bowl, whisk together the whole wheat flour, baking powder, and cinnamon.
- Step 2: In a separate bowl, whisk together the pumpkin puree, egg, milk (or water), and honey.
- Step 3: Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients and stir until just combined. Be careful not to overmix.
- Step 4: Heat a lightly oiled griddle or frying pan over medium heat.
- Step 5: Pour 1/4 cup of batter onto the hot griddle for each pancake. Cook for 2-3 minutes per side, or until golden brown and cooked through.
- Step 6: Let the pancakes cool slightly before serving to your dog. Ensure the pancakes are at a safe temperature.
Notes
- Store leftover pancakes in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
- Warm up refrigerated pancakes in the microwave for a few seconds or in a pan on low heat to restore their fluffy texture.
- Break the cooled pancakes into bite-sized pieces and use them as training treats or a special addition to your dog's meal.
- For a slightly sweeter treat, add a tiny drizzle of honey *after* cooking, being mindful of your dog's sugar intake.
