Delicious viral chocolate date bark recipe with detailed instructions and nutritional information.

  • Total Time: 35 minutes
  • Yield: 4 servings 1x

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup pitted Medjool dates, roughly chopped
  • 1/2 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1/4 cup almond butter (or other nut butter)
  • 1/4 cup maple syrup (or honey)
  • 1/4 teaspoon sea salt
  • 1/2 cup dark chocolate chips (70% cacao or higher)
  • 1/4 cup chopped nuts (almonds, pecans, walnuts – your choice)
  • 1/4 cup dried fruit (cranberries, cherries, goji berries – your choice)

Instructions

  1. Step 1: Line a baking sheet with parchment paper. Set aside.
  2. Step 2: In a food processor, combine the chopped dates, cocoa powder, almond butter, maple syrup, and salt. Process until a sticky, smooth paste forms, scraping down the sides as needed. If the mixture is too dry, add a teaspoon of water at a time until it comes together.
  3. Step 3: Spread the date mixture evenly onto the prepared baking sheet, forming a thin, rectangular bark.
  4. Step 4: Sprinkle the dark chocolate chips, chopped nuts, and dried fruit evenly over the date mixture.
  5. Step 5: Refrigerate the bark for at least 30 minutes, or until the chocolate is firm.
  6. Step 6: Break the bark into irregular pieces and serve. Store leftover bark in an airtight container in the refrigerator.

Notes

  • Store leftover bark in the freezer for up to 2 months for optimal freshness.
  • For a warm, gooey treat, gently microwave individual pieces for 5-10 seconds.
  • Serve this bark with a scoop of vanilla ice cream or alongside your morning coffee for an unexpected delight.
  • To prevent sticking, lightly grease your food processor bowl before adding the date mixture.
