Ingredients
Scale
- 12 ounces White Chocolate, finely chopped
- 1/2 cup Heavy Cream
- 2 tablespoons Orange Liqueur (such as Grand Marnier or Cointreau)
- 1 tablespoon Orange Zest, finely grated
- 2 tablespoons Unsalted Butter, softened
- 1/4 teaspoon Salt
- 12 ounces White Candy Melts, for coating
- Orange Sprinkles, for garnish (optional)
Instructions
- Step 1: In a heatproof bowl set over a simmering pot of water (double boiler), combine the chopped white chocolate, heavy cream, orange liqueur, orange zest, butter, and salt. Stir constantly until the chocolate is completely melted and the mixture is smooth.
- Step 2: Remove the bowl from the heat and let cool slightly. Cover the bowl with plastic wrap, pressing the plastic wrap directly onto the surface of the mixture. Refrigerate for at least 2 hours, or preferably overnight, until the mixture is firm enough to scoop.
- Step 3: Using a small cookie scoop or spoon, scoop out rounded teaspoons of the chilled white chocolate mixture. Roll each scoop between your palms to form a smooth ball. Place the truffles on a parchment-lined baking sheet.
- Step 4: In a separate heatproof bowl, melt the white candy melts according to package directions.
- Step 5: Dip each truffle into the melted candy melts, ensuring it's completely coated. Use a fork or dipping tools to remove the truffle, tapping gently to remove excess coating. Place the coated truffle back on the parchment-lined baking sheet.
- Step 6: Immediately sprinkle the truffles with orange sprinkles, if desired. Refrigerate the truffles for at least 30 minutes to allow the coating to set completely before serving.
Notes
- Store leftover truffles in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to a week to maintain their shape and freshness.
- For a slightly softer truffle, let them sit at room temperature for about 10-15 minutes before serving, but don't let them get too warm.
- Serve these truffles chilled alongside a cup of hot cocoa or coffee for a delightful contrast in temperature and flavor.
- For a more intense orange flavor, try gently heating the orange liqueur with the orange zest before adding it to the chocolate mixture – this helps release the oils.
